CONTRACTORS

How often does a huge, new market open up in your industry?
A new market that is profitable, and requires no new equipment or people?
A new market with significant opportunities for both new and existing product lines?

ScourStop truly creates a tremendous opportunity for Erosion or Landscape Contractors.

Tens of thousands of storm water outlets across the country and the world are new sales opportunities generating $600 to $60,000 for every outlet and channel. Each parking lot outlet (often 3-4 per parking lot) could create $600 of sales. One water conveyance – previously rock rip rap – could generate $60,000 in sales.

Expanded product sales and new market opportunities:

Example

A new, 3.5 million dollar commercial building in Ankeny, IA, was required to protect a water conveyance in the R.O.W. in its frontage area. Over 1100 tons of 18 inch rock rip rap was specified to carry the volume and velocity over nearly 400 linear feet at a cost of $38,000.00. Worse yet, the owner was dreading the thought of this rock in front of his new building collecting debris, large weeds, and standing water (as it only had a 1% slope).

Carpenter Erosion Control in Ankeny, IA suggested a new product ScourStop complimented by turf reinforcement mats and sod. This combination would provide the erosion protection required, AND a beautiful, manicured lawn in front of his building! The developer was ecstatic. The city loved it. The engineer was proud to deliver a much more aesthetic product.

As icing on the cake – the project cost actually came in $15,000 under the proposed rock rip rap! The developer would have paid the rock rip rap price, and more! They absolutely loved the end result and the frontage of their $3.5 million dollar building. A lower cost is typical for many projects when comparing TRMs to rock rip rap because the installation cost for a larger quantity of TRMs is dramatically lower as the size of the project increases.
The contractor earned full retail on the value-engineering and installations performed – nearly $14,000 on a $23,000 project.

Retrofits offer another great opportunity!

Rock rip rap is notorious for requiring annual maintenance – generally for trimming and debris clean up. But often, the ugly problem of erosion around the rock, or dislodgement downstream, requires owners to repair and retrofit rock rip rap installations.

Retrofits are very expensive because the site is landscaped and access for big equipment is limited. ScourStop enables a contractor to mobilize with smaller equipment to remove the old rock, and re-grade the outlet. Sod and ScourStop can then be delivered in a smaller truck (than rock rip rap) and installed with little cost. This process is profitable, and new income, for the erosion or landscape contractor, but requires no new investment!

New opportunities to connect with clients and prospects.

Retrofits of existing landscapes cost double or triple normal construction! Large equipment may be required, which is not only expensive to use, but expensive to transport on site. Additionally, it may break up existing pavement while in use, as well as large trucks to haul away spoil and deliver replacement materials.

Scourstop can often be used to retrofit an area utilizing skid loaders and material delivered in a small pickup, thus saving significant construction costs and landscape revitalization.
